For years, churches and non-profits have been looking for ways to raise funds to pay for needed buildings, projects, and missions.
While many organizations still use traditional forms of fund raising, tech-savvy young givers are looking for other options. They want the technology they use daily, to connect with the ways they can make a difference.
Enter crowdfunding…
kroudˌfəndiNG/
noun
noun: crowdfunding; noun: crowd-funding
- the practice of funding a project or venture by raising many small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the Internet.
The idea of crowdfunding has been around for a while, and we've covered it before. But, with the number of non-profit friendly options growing, we thought it would be good to lay out some options for you to consider.
So what options are available?
Here are 3 Crowdfunding Options we haven't shared before:
CauseVox
CauseVox is crowdfunding and peer-to-peer fundraising for nonprofits and social good projects.
Their super easy site editor walks you through the process of setting up your campaign and launching the page. Mobile optimization, social media sharing and blogging tools help you get your message heard so people can respond. Add in the Starter option of no monthly fee until you raise $5,000 and CauseVox is a viable consideration.
GiveSendGo
GiveSendGo is a relative new comer to the crowdfunding field. They are a Christian crowdfunding site that operates FREE of charge. Donations made to campaigns are not subject to the typical 5%-10% “usage fee” of many crowdfunding sites.
Whether you're looking for a long or short term campaign they have support available for your ministry. They even support recurring donations for longer term project.
The hope of this ministry is to encourage Christians to fund projects of hope, and to pray and connect with believers worldwide.
Razoo
Razoo has been on the scene for some time, but we have not covered them before. They specialize in crowdfunding for causes, with the goal of one small donation at a time.
While no longer a strictly non-profit centered option, they support organizations with goals of any size. A quick preview of their active campaigns shows churches, seminaries, and relief organizations actively raising funds.
Their fees are in line with other crowdfunding sources. With support for online and offline gifts, your ministry can meet it's goals through traditional and online giving.
If you are looking to raise funds for a new ministry endeavor you would do well to check out your crowdfunding options. It may men the difference between a partial and fully funded project.
Good read. There are a number of publicly offered grants available for unique projects as well. I recently attended a church event that was held by a local company who supported local teens interested in programming and the IT field. After a bit of chit-chat I found out that one of the other members had mentioned a recently received grant for a purposed tech company that had deep spiritual impacts. I believe the company was involved with https://busybench.com but I could be wrong. Either way, good read. Thanks for producing this great content guys!
Hey Stephen! Thanks for your comment and heads up about grants. We appreciate you!
